Royal College Library


Royal College library was set up in the year 1989 since the inception of the College. Over the years, it has been flourished in to an up to date system and fully automated library.
Earlier the library was operated manually, which was later automated using SLIM++ software. Since 2012, we are using SLIM21 library software.
The Library area is spacious 5200 sq.ft, making seating capacity for 200 students.
We have 5 sections: Open access section, reading room for students, reference section, internet section and staff reading room.

 Learning Objectives:
·        To make student's aware of the role of library in supporting   academic activities.
·        To promote the Library as the best source of information.
·        To introduce different type of resources to the users.
·        To introduce Slim21 software and Open Access Service.
·        To inculcate GOOD READING HABIT.


Library Working hours are as below:  
Library:  8.30am- 5.30pm
Reading Section:   7.30am- 6.00pm
Reference/Open Access Section : 8.30am - 4.30 pm
Issue Counter:10.00 a.m. – 4.00 p.m. (Mon-Sat)
Return Counter: 10.00 a.m. – 3.00 p.m. (Mon-Sat)
Teacher’s Issue/Return Counter: 8.30 a.m. – 5.00 p.m.
Internet Section: 9.00 a.m. - 5.00 p.m.

·        Orientation programme for freshers.

·        Reprography service
·        Current Awareness Services: Newspaper clippings for career guidance, notifications for events.  
·        Students can issue the books throughout the week.                                                       


Rules:
·        2 Books are issued to the students and 15 books are issued for teaching  & non teaching  staff. 
·        Students are allowed to take home the books for duration of 1 week which they can renew twice.
·        If mutilated or lost, the borrower will have to replace the book with a new copy or pay the amount of the current price along with the over due charges if any. Students should not write or do any kind of marking on the library books.
·        On late submission of book fine of Rs. 2/- per day is charged.
·        Strictly maintenance of silence and discipline in library and reading hall area.  
·        No reminders are issued to individuals but consolidated list of defaulters will be displayed in the library notice board.
·        Library is closed on Sundays and public holidays except during examination period. Students have to  give their names to Library Staff a week prior to the Sunday/Bank Holiday
